Adopt-a-Highrise Program

The member congregations of Lift Urban Portland "adopt" apartment buildings that house many elders, persons with disabilities, and people with limited incomes. Volunteers host group activities, which build community and individual relationships and provide an opportunity for outreach and education about the range of Lift Urban Portland's programs and services.

Volunteers plan, finance, and staff a variety of activities for residents, including:

Barbecues
Holiday parties
Bingo games
Arts and crafts
Outings
Weekly meditation
Afternoon tea
Helping Hands group projects
Yoga classes

These types of events can also be organized by individuals, as a class project, or by a team from a local business. If you would like to host a game night, serve a spaghetti dinner, teach a craft class, or some other activity that promotes education or community connections, please let our Volunteer Program Manager know by calling 503-221-1224, ext. 105.
